Evolution and Degeneracy

Because the canonical ensemble requires the evaluation of degenerate conditions, it requires that the past states and thus the past combination of energy levels are used to determine future states.

This, in turn sets the stage for development as the most thermodynamic probable, the equilibrium state is strived towards. Nothing is forgotten, every configuration is based on increasing the probability from the past towards the future. Therefore particles are not without ID. Each carries its own history with it, from the beginning, towards the end.

Evolution is degeneracy.

Light Train Paradox

Imagine a moving train was equipped with a sensor which received a photon of light, and caused the train to stop, this must mean that the information contained in the photon is equal to the energy used in stopping the train, minus losses due to heat and work. Thus e=mc^2=i, where i is the information content of a message which causes matter energy to be transformed from one to the other.

Update 04.01.2011:
Continuing with this gedankenspiel, would this not mean that if the speed of light and the perceived mass of the photon as it strikes the receptor is truly constant, the information content is not. This can be shown as  the same photon sensor from the train experiment can be used with say, a small car. However, the amount of energy transformed is much smaller. This can be if either continuity does not hold, which I do not believe. Another possibility is that the rate of change of momentum is changed via a change in the rate of change of space time.

Update 11.01.2011:
The answer is that all of the energy in stopping the train is converted into the brakes, via friction, noise and the like, and the energy used by the receptor cannot be more than the photon's energy (in an ideal case), thus no energy leaves or enters the system throughout the process of transformation. Thus the amount of information (1 bit) the photon contained is exactly equal to that of all the energy used in bringing the train to a complete stop. Thus energy = information.

Entropic Weaponry

Should a higher level complexity encounter a lower level, the only feasible means of success of the lower level over the higher would not be through a thermal device, but rather through entropic means. Such a device would require a great deal of knowledge of the stoichiometric qualities of the higher (or lower) level organism, especially the specific heat capacity, to include all genetic variants.

Book Chapter 4 - Water

In the final chapter, the paranoiac is taken away by the police. Additionally, the loss of the autistic forms a void in the academic's work, when he realizes that the majority of his factors are solved. He builds a computer program which predicts his every move, and spends some days entertaining himself via his 'twin'. However, since some key factors which the autistic could not account for are missing, the predictions are very limited in time. When the academic puts in long intervals, the program states that he is not complete, that such a molecule is not stable enough to exist that far in the future. In his despair, he becomes closer to the immigrant family, falls in love with the daughter, marries her and takes the previous apartment of his autistic friend, which is now in true harmony, since the emotion love was what was missing. A young couple of average education with 2 children moves into the paranoiac's previous apartment, since no wealthy people wish to live there because of it's past history. The children of the immigrant family begin to move out, and all parties decide to renovate the heating system of the house.

The end of the book:
As they begin to take out the heating system to make it more efficient, they discover that an old man lives on the fifth floor of the house, and had been listening and watching all of them for as long as they had been in the house. He had built the house many, many years before, but they had all forgotten about him. But he had been writing a blog about their many transgressions over the years, and that had kept him in good spirits. They all decide that they will have 'house' dinners in each of the 4 apartments every week, and invite the old man, since he can no longer use the heating system to hear what they have to say, and they enjoy his seemingly infinite wisdom and kind spirit.

Book Chapter 3 - Fire

In this chapter, the paranoiac and the autistic begin to get into an argument. The academic and the family become closer as the academic begins to take notice of one of the family's daughters, to whom he finds himself attracted to. He also finds that the autistic man finds his equation trivial, and begins to help him rapidly solve his equation system for the human molecule. The paranoiac becomes increasingly enraged when he finds that cameras have been installed (to aid in the constant adjustment of the apartment so that it is in even more harmony) and in a fit of rage murders the autistic man.

Book Chapter 2 - Air

The second chapter describes the content of the house, each floor has a peculiar set of inhabitants. On the first floor lives an eccentric, self-absorbed and famous paranoiac. On the second floor lives a wealth immigrant family with many children, where the parents simply inherited well and are not particularly well-educated. On the third floor lives a single academic, who is trying to calculate the various factors for his equation which is to describe the human molecule. And on the fourth floor lives a autistic man who shuns companionship, but who is constantly renovating his apartment such that it is in perfect harmony.

Book Chapter 1 - Earth

Four Stories

The first chapter describes an almost ageless house, constantly renovated, connected to it's enviroment via plumbing, electrical wiring, satellite dishes etc. It is capable of exchanging information, mass and energy with its surroundings, and has stood the test of time.
